Oyama library branch to close

A small Okanagan library that’s only been open for eight hours a week recently is being closed at the end of October.

Directors of the Okanagan Regional Library have determined it’s not feasible or costeffective to keep the Oyama branch open.

The decision was triggered, in part, by the pending sale of the building in which the

“tiny” Oyama branch operates, the ORL says in a release.

The eight service hours will be transferred to the main library branch in Lake Country in November. That branch in downtown

Winfield is about a 10-minute drive away from Oyama.
